A Carthage woman suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday on Route E, three miles east of Carthage in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Maxine M. Corson, 52, was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, the state patrol said.
Corson was driving an eastbound van that ran off the road, struck a driveway embankment, became airborne, hit two trees and overturned. She was thrown from the vehicle, the patrol said.
• Four residents of Indiana were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 44, a mile east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, the state patrol said.
Four passengers in the vehicle driven by Steven E. Caruana, 38, of Armada, Mich., were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, the state patrol said. They were identified as Jenny L. Bgoom, age not available; an infant, Andrew T. Bgoom; and Peggy R. Jennison, 76, all of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Arthur A. Wise, 52, of South Bend, Ind.
The westbound minivan ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.
