Young Joplin woman discovered deceased

— Joplin police are looking into the death of a 28-year-old woman inside her home in the 2400 block of South Connor Avenue.

The mother of the woman discovered the death this afternoon and called police. Crime scene tape was strung across the porch of the home, where family members were gathering outside at 5 p.m.

“Obviously, that’s too young to be dying so soon,” police Cpl. Chuck Niess said. “So we’re investigating.”

He said it was too early to say if the death is suspicious or not and indicated that a police statement may be issued later today. The name of the deceased has not been released as yet.

Niess indicated the woman lived at the address with her children who were not home at the time.
