JOPLIN, Mo. —
A Springfield woman accused of trying to rob a U.S. Bank branch in Joplin on Friday remains in custody at the Joplin City Jail on $5,000 bond.
Anna L. Turner, 50, was arrested in the parking lot of the Food 4 Less grocery store across the street from the bank at 2801 E. 32nd St. just minutes after the 5:11 p.m. robbery attempt, according to Joplin police.
She allegedly put a note demanding money in the drawer of a walkup window in the drive-through lanes of the bank. She left on foot when the teller refused to comply with the note.
Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said Turner was not armed, and she has been charged with attempted second-degree robbery.
