Double homicide reported near Lamar

LAMAR, Mo. — The Barton County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are investigating a shooting about 1 a.m. today near Lamar that left two people dead and a third critically injured.

A man and a woman were killed and another woman wounded in the shooting about a mile southwest of the intersection of U.S. highways 71 and 160, according to the state patrol. None of the names of the victims have been released as yet.

Authorities will be releasing more details at a 2 p.m. news conference in Lamar.
