CARTHAGE, Mo. — A 23-year-old man was charged with felony stealing after his arrest Tuesday morning inside a vacant home in Carthage.
The Carthage Police Department said in a news release that the occupants of a home on East Macon Street reported returning home Tuesday morning after a few days’ absence and discovering many of their belongings stolen.
Police said Matthew Childs, a resident of the address, was located in alleged possession of the items inside a vacant home that is up for sale at 1702 S. Missouri Ave. and was arrested. Childs was charged with felony stealing and was being held on a $3,500 bond, plus bonds totaling an additional $10,200 on outstanding warrants issued by Lincoln County and Carthage.
