An Altamont, Kan., woman was killed in a car-dump truck accident at 9:08 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 69, four miles north of Pittsburg, Kan., according to the Kansas State Highway Patrol.
Annmarie G. Salsberry, 39, driver of the car, was killed in the accident. The body was received by Bath Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg.
The other driver, Brandon Brown, 36, Cherokee, Kan., was not injured. The patrol said the northbound dump truck, operated by the Kansas Department of Transportation, was struck from behind by the passenger car.
• Five people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:05 p.m. Friday on Interstate 44, five miles east of Carthage in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The driver, Frederick P. Schaefer, 75, of Marionville, and four passengers in his vehicle were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the state patrol said. The others injured were identified as Barbara Schaefer, 76, of Marionville, and Stephen R. Cargile, 48; Stephen K. Cargile, 14; and Donna J. Cargile, 47, all of Aurora.
Their westbound car ran off the road, struck a concrete culvert and overturned, the patrol said.
• A Chicago man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8:31 p.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes on I-44, five miles east of Carthage, the state patrol said.
Juan M. Salgado, 43, was taken by ambulance to McCune-Brooks regional Hospital in Carthage, the patrol said.
Salgado was a passenger in a westbound car driven by Yolanda Salgado, 41, of Chicago, that ran off the left side of the road and struck a median cable guard, the patrol said.
• Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:35 p.m. Friday on Business Highway 60, a half-mile east of Neosho in Newton County, the state patrol said.
The driver of one of the vehicles involved, Arlene C. Easley, 69, of Seneca, and an occupant of her vehicle, Edward L. Easley, 49, also of Seneca, were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.
Their eastbound pickup truck was stopped and waiting to make a left turn when it was struck in the rear by an eastbound vehicle driven by David A. Keenan, 21, of Granby, the patrol said.
