Couple tell police of being attacked



A man and a woman were taken to a hospital after an alleged assault early Saturday outside the Guitars dance club in Joplin.

Timothy Madl, 33, and Tiffanie Thomas, 32, told police that they were attacked for no apparent reason by another man and woman about 1 a.m. in the parking lot of the club at 1800 W. Seventh St.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said Madl suffered cuts to his face, and Thomas suffered a broken arm and a cut on her leg. Both were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

The assault remained under investigation Tuesday.
