CARTHAGE, Mo. — A grass fire Tuesday afternoon involving about 30 acres near Interstate 44 south of Carthage damaged a shed and burned several bales of hay before firefighters were able to put it out.
Deputy Chief Roger Williams of the Carthage Fire Department said a man’s brush pile fire burned out of control about 2:30 p.m. and soon spread on a hill along County Road 130 at Cimarron Road, east of U.S. Highway 71 and north of I-44.
“We had one structure (the shed) that caught on fire, but we put it out,” Williams said. “Several others were threatened.”
He said no injuries were reported.
