JOPLIN, Mo. —
The Joplin Police Department is reporting that the medical condition of a man found critically wounded at the scene of a shooting Saturday night has been stabilized.
Police Lt. Darren Gallup said Rondias “Ronald” Webb, 35, was reported to be in stable condition today at Freeman Hospital West.
Monica Webb, 36, died of a gunshot wound sustained in the shooting at 3415 E. 15th St. that was reported to police about 10:20 p.m. Saturday. She and her estranged husband were discovered with severe gunshots wounds and were taken to the hospital, where she died about 2 p.m. Sunday.
Court records show that Rondias Webb was charged with a misdemeanor domestic assault on his wife Sept. 23 and that a protective order was issued in the case. He failed to appear for a hearing on the charge Nov. 7, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. A charge that he violated the protection order was filed Nov. 8.
Gallup confirmed today that the shooting is believed to be a homicide with respect to Monica Webb’s death. But he stopped short of confirming the double shooting as an apparent murder and attempted suicide.
“It is a homicide, and right now, we’re not looking at any suspects other than Rondias,” Gallup said.
No charges have been filed as yet against Rondias Webb with respect to the shooting. Gallup said he anticipates charges being filed in the case either later today or in the next day or two.
