Weapon charged dismissed; reluctance of victim cited

A Jasper County judge dismissed a felony weapon charge Wednesday that a Webb City man was facing for allegedly pulling a knife on another man during an argument.

James D. Mitchell II, 27, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on a charge of unlawful use of a weapon in Jasper County Circuit Court. But the Jasper County prosecutor’s office instead asked Associate Judge Richard Copeland to dismiss the case because of a lack of cooperation on the part of the victim.

Mitchell was accused of pulling the knife on Dwight J. Stanley Jr. during an argument March 22 in Carterville, according to records.
