Carterville man faces charges after altercation

— CARTERVILLE, Mo. — A 45-year-old Carterville man is facing domestic assault and other charges after an altercation with his girlfriend early Saturday.

Carterville police arrested Rob Whisner after the woman with whom he shared a home reported the confrontation.

The 28-year-old woman said Whisner fired three shots from a handgun inside the home in southwest Carterville, police said.

“It happened about 2 a.m. Saturday, but she didn’t report it until later that day, when she felt free to leave and called us from a friend’s house,” said Sgt. Clinton Worley. “One of the bullets exited the front of the house.”

Whisner was arrested and has been charged with one count of domestic assault, one count of armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, Worley said.

He was in custody on $10,000 bond.
