Nevada man faces felony drug charges

NEVADA, Mo. — Drug task force agents and sheriff’s deputies arrested a parolee in Nevada on drug and weapon charges Thursday while seizing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at locations in Harwood and Schell City.

Vernon County deputies and members of the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested Brenden Moreland, 26, while conducting a surveillance operation in Nevada. Moreland was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm as a felon. He remained in custody Friday at the Vernon County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

A news release from the sheriff’s office said an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia later were seized at a house in Harwood and an unspecified location in Schell City. The news release said the names of suspects involved at those locations were being withheld pending further investigation.
