Man wounded in shooting on State Line Road

— Jasper County sheriff’s deputies are sorting out what happened in a dispute between neighbors that sent a man to the hospital with a gunshot to his abdomen from a handgun.

Deputies were called about 10 a.m. to 913 State Line Road, according to Capt. Derek Walrod of the sheriff’s office.

“It appears at this point, it was dispute between neighbors,” Walrod said. “During the dispute, a gun was brandished and a male was shot in the stomach.”

The man was taken to a Joplin hospital with an injury that was not considered life-threatening, Walrod said. He said deputies are questioning the woman who shot him and no arrest had been made as yet.
