Carterville woman hurt in accident north of Joplin

A Carterville woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday on Missouri Highway 249, a half-mile north of Joplin in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Nijah B. Brown, 21, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West, the state patrol said.

Brown was driving a southbound car that struck a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the passing lane of the highway with its emergency lights activated. Her car then skidded off the road, the patrol said. The driver of the truck, Loyd C. Wilson, 51, of Carl Junction, escaped injury.
