Arkansas woman hurt in accident in Southwest City




A Sulphur Springs, Ark., woman was injured in a one-car accident reported at 7:15 a.m. Friday on McDonald County Route J in Southwest City, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Launa J. Craig, 25, driver of the car, sustained serious injuries and was flown by air ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

The patrol said Craig, who was traveling south, ran off the road on a curve, striking a fence and tree before overturning.

The accident happened soon after midnight Thursday, but was not discovered until later Friday morning.

• A Wyandotte, Okla., woman was injured in a one-car accident at 3:05 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 60, three miles east of Seneca in Newton County, the patrol said.

Linda J. Mersman, 60, driver of the vehicle, sustained moderate injuries. She was taken to Freeman Hospital West.

The patrol said Mersman, who was traveling west, ran off the road, went down an embankment and overturned.

• A Webb City man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 1:05 p.m. Thursday on Pine Road, seven miles north of Joplin in Jasper County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Timothy R. Wallander, 35, driver of the vehicle, sustained moderate injuries. He was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

The patrol said Wallander, who was going west, ran off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and overturned.
