Felony assault charges have been filed in three domestic disturbances to which Joplin police responded recently.
Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said Chris W. Schlichting, 39, was charged with second-degree domestic assault after a disturbance Thursday night at 2323 S. McConnell Ave.
Schlichting is accused of grabbing his wife, Rebecca S. Walton, 32, by the neck and attempting to shove a wedding ring down her throat. He then allegedly put a gun to her head. Niess said Schlichting never discharged the gun, and Walton did not require medical attention.
Tyler A. Johnson, 20, was arrested Friday night after a disturbance at 1103 S. St. Louis Ave. Niess said Johnson is accused of putting a knife to the throat of his girlfriend, Amanda M. Wilson, 31, and shoving her. She did not require medical attention. Johnson was charged with second-degree domestic assault.
Walter L. Houston, 50, was charged with second-degree domestic assault after a disturbance Monday night at 1628 S. Texas Ave. Houston is accused of choking his girlfriend, Terri L. Dry, 44. She declined medical attention, Niess said.
