NEOSHO, Mo. — Sheriff’s deputies investigating the theft of a pickup truck turned up an alleged methamphetamine lab and arrested its suspected operator.
Newton County Chief Deputy Chris Jennings said deputies located a pickup truck Tuesday in a ditch along Joseph Lane north of Neosho and learned from the owner Wednesday morning that the vehicle had been stolen.
Jennings said the owner informed officers that several items had been removed from the back of the truck before its recovery, and deputies obtained a search warrant on a nearby property at 12739 Joseph Lane. He said chain saws, tools and a generator belonging to the owner of the truck were recovered, and a shake-and-bake meth lab was seized.
Aaron Poore, 24, was arrested on suspicion of stealing, tampering with a motor vehicle and manufacturing a controlled substance, but only the drug charge had been filed by the Newton County prosecutor’s office by late Wednesday afternoon.

A suspect accused of trying to run down two Joplin police officers with a sport utility vehicle early Sunday was winged in an arm and hand when the officers shot at him in response, police said. Brandon J. Knoderer, 32, underwent surgery Monday at a Joplin hospital to remove bullet fragments from his right arm and left hand.
