Newton County Sheriff’s Department seizes indoor growing operation for marijuana

From staff reports

JOPLIN, Mo. — A Joplin man, Michael Sean Holden, 36, has been arrested and is facing charges of first-degree drug trafficking after the Newton County Sheriff’s Department seized what the sheriff is calling the largest and most sophisticated indoor growing operation he has ever seen.

Sheriff Ken Copeland said that on Friday his department seized 396 plants and 107 bags of processed marijuana ready to distribute from 3540 Whispering Hills.

“Every room in the house had something to do with marijuana growing operations,” said Copeland. He said an outdoor building also was used in the operation.

The suspect was using indoor growing lamps and watering and drainage systems.

Holden is being held  in Newton County on $500,000 bond.
