Pittsburg couple arrested; children taken out of home

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg couple was arrested and their three children removed from their care Wednesday when narcotics officers allegedly seized marijuana, methamphetamine and other items in a search of their home.

Pittsburg police and agents with the Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force of the Kansas Bureau of Investigations executed a search warrant Wednesday morning at 104 E. 16th St. and took Ryan G. Coonrod, 31, and his wife into custody on an array of charges.

Police said in a news release that children 10 and 9 years old and 5 weeks old were placed in temporary state custody as an outcome of the arrests. Undisclosed amounts of marijuana and meth were seized, along with alleged drug paraphernalia, stolen property and a handgun, police said.

Ryan Coonrod was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of meth, both felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a firearm. His wife was charged with misdemeanor offenses of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
