VINITA, Okla. —
A 23-year-old Carthage, Mo., man was killed in a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon on Will Rogers Turnpike, three miles west of Vinita, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Ethan S. Giett died at the scene of the accident at 4:19 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the turnpike, the state patrol said. His body was taken to the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita pending transport to the state medical examiner’s office in Tulsa.
Giett was driving a Lincoln MKZ westbound in the eastbound lanes when his car struck the driver’s side rear wheel of a semi-truck and spun off the road and rolled an undetermined number of times down a hill, throwing him from the vehicle, which then landed on top of him, the patrol said.
The driver of the semi-truck, Matthew A. Baker, 30, of Monroe City, Mo., escaped injury, the patrol said.
