Motorist, pedestrian injured in accidents on roads in area

A Joplin woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1:40 p.m. Monday on Lone Elm Road, two miles south of Carl Junction in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Shawna L. Chapman, 42, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the state patrol said.

Chapman was driving a northbound car that ran off the road and struck a tree, the patrol said.

• A pedestrian was injured in an accident at 3:15 a.m. Monday on Route FF, three miles east of Joplin, the state patrol said.

Nathan A. Jones, 25, was taken to Freeman Hospital West, the patrol said.

Jones was struck by an eastbound box truck driven by David W. Summers, 49, of Joplin, according to the patrol.
