Police: Armed robber panics, runs from store

An armed robbery fell apart Wednesday night when the robber panicked and ran, according to Joplin police.

The robbery was reported at 9:10 p.m. at Spirit 66 Food Mart, 703 W. Seventh St.

Police said a man wearing a ski mask entered the store and pointed a gun at the clerk, demanding money.

But the man then appeared to panic and bolted out of the store without obtaining any cash, police were told.

The robber was wearing a black hoodie with a University of Missouri logo on it, and blue pants that were turned inside out, police said.
