GALENA, Kan. — Fire of undetermined origin Saturday morning destroyed a house in rural Galena, according to Matt Ratliff, a member of the local volunteer fire department.
Firefighters were called to the house in the 1200 block of Harrison Lane, northeast of Galena, at about 10:20 a.m. and found the structure in flames, Ratliff said. They did not head back to the station until just before 2 p.m.
No one was home at the time of the blaze, and no injuries were reported, Ratliff said. The house is owned by Brandon Shoemaker, he said.
Ratliff said efforts to determine the cause of the blaze remained under way.
The Galena department was assisted by crews from Baxter Springs.
