From staff reports
The Joplin Fire Department is uncertain what caused a fire Wednesday that started in the bathroom closet of a house in central Joplin.
Firefighters responded at 1:24 p.m. to a report of a fire in the 2100 block of South Connor Avenue. Keith Stammer, public information officer for the Joplin Fire Department, said heavy smoke was pouring from an attic gable when firefighters arrived.
It took crews about an hour and a half to put out the fire and eject smoke from the house. No injuries were reported, Stammer said. The cause of the fire remained unknown, although it was believed to have started in a bathroom closet, he said.
Bill Lloyd is listed as the owner of the residence.
