Fire destroys mobile home; no injuries cited

DUENWEG, Mo. — Fire of an undetermined origin early Tuesday destroyed a mobile home in the 700 block of Pastel Lane in Duenweg.

The Jasper County sheriff’s office received a call at 4:30 a.m. The mobile home was in flames when deputies arrived.

Sheriff’s Capt. Derek Walrod said no one was at home when the fire started. He said the man who rents the trailer arrived home when the fire was in progress and began to knock on the doors of his neighbors’ homes asking them to call 911 because his place was on fire.

There were no injuries.

Walrod said the Duenweg Fire Department and possibly other departments responded to the fire. The cause is still being investigated.
