Highway Patrol reports results of DWI operations

— The Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped 231 vehicles during saturation patrols aimed at cracking down on drunken driving last week in selected locations of Barry and Newton counties.

The patrols were conducted May 2-4 in Barry County and May 4 in Newton County, and produced 16 arrests for driving while intoxicated. The enforcement locations were selected based on the frequency of impairment-related traffic accidents and past contacts with intoxicated drivers.

In the course of the operations, state troopers also made one felony arrest, two drug arrests, three arrests of minors in possession, two arrests on felony warrants, and 16 arrests on misdemeanor warrants. They also cited or arrested drivers for 30 speeding violations, 49 seat belt violations, one child restraint violation, 43 nonmoving traffic offenses, 14 driver’s license violations, and two uninsured motorist violations.
