Area man faces charge of supplying alcohol to minor

A rural Sarcoxie man was charged with supplying alcohol to a minor after a 19-year-old man was taken to a hospital last week with alcohol poisoning from drinking numerous shots of whiskey.

Capt. Derek Walrod of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were called to an address on Black Walnut Road at 1 a.m. Thursday concerning a domestic disturbance involving Franklin L. Ralston, 56, and his girlfriend.

Walrod said Ralston was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of supplying alcohol to a minor when it was learned that the girlfriend’s 19-year-old son became ill from drinking the defendant’s whiskey. The young man was taken to a Joplin hospital where he was treated for alcohol poisoning, Walrod said.
