Neosho fire claims child's life

NEOSHO, Mo. — An early-morning fire at a mobile home outside of Neosho claimed the life of one child and caused another to be hospitalized.

According to a press release from the Neosho fire department, firefighters received a report of a single-wide trailer on fire near the intersection of Palm Road and Kingsland Road southwest of Neosho just before 2:00 a.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, the center portion of the trailer was on fire. After entering the trailer, firefighters found two children identified as 7 year-old Liam Lane and 4 year-old Sandra Lane.

Liam Lane was take to Freeman hospital in Neosho where he later died. Sandra Lane was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment of smoke inhalation. Her condition is not known.

Two adults, 34 year-old Josh Lane and 30 year-old Kassi Lane, were transported to Freeman West Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and later released.
