Two people who were arrested Tuesday night after a report of tampering with a vehicle in progress in the 1400 block of Langston Hughes-Broadway allegedly were caught in possession of items from other vehicle break-ins.
Joshua R. Green, 22, of Tulsa, Okla., and Jimmie L. Brownlee, 24, of Joplin, were arrested about 9 p.m. after allegedly having gone through a vehicle belonging to Andrew Barnes, 21, looking for items to steal.
Joplin police Cpl. Chuck Niess said officers discovered car stereos, amplifiers, speakers, a laptop computer and other stolen items in the suspects’ vehicle and at the home of Brownlee at 1604 S. Virginia Ave. He said Green also allegedly was found to be in possession of some methamphetamine.
Green was charged with felony counts of receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor count of tapering with a vehicle. Brownlee is facing a felony count of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of tampering.
