Two men forced their way into an apartment Monday afternoon, assaulted an occupant and stole his smartphone, according to a Joplin police report.

Police Lt. Matt Stewart said the burglary and assault took place about 2:15 p.m. at the Northpark Apartments, 3514 E. Newman Road. The men reportedly punched and kicked Tim Wells, 19, before leaving with his iPhone, Stewart said. Wells did not require medical attention to his injuries, he said.
