LAMAR, Mo. — The crash of a single-engine plane Sunday near the Lamar Municipal Airport killed the pilot, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Patrol Sgt. Mike Watson said the single-engine Piper plane crashed about 9 a.m. less than a half-mile north of the airport.
Watson said the lone male occupant of the plane was taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
The name of the pilot was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
