Motorcycle rider injured in accident on Interstate 44

A motorcyclist was injured in an accident at 10:27 a.m. Sunday on an exit ramp of Interstate 44 for a rest stop near the Oklahoma-Missouri line, according to a Joplin police report.

Thomas R. Dolan III, 38, of Lawrence, Kan., was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the report said.

Dolan was westbound when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle began wobbling, he told police. He tried pulling onto the exit ramp to get it under control, but the bike skidded off the pavement into a ditch and overturned, the report said.
