Prosecution asks judge to dismiss case in deferral

— A Jasper County judge dismissed the felony assault case of a Joplin man Thursday after a year of deferred prosecution.

Jason R. Bresee, 23, was charged in December 2011 with second-degree assault for allegedly striking Eugene Ward with a vehicle outside the Joplin residence of the defendant’s girlfriend.

A probable-cause affidavit states that Ward did not suffer any visible injuries in the incident.

The Jasper County prosecutor’s office asked Associate Circuit Judge Richard Copeland to dismiss the charge since Bresee had completed a year without incurring any additional felony charges.
