NEVADA, Mo. — Investigators have determined that a fire that extensively damaged the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole office in Nevada this week was set deliberately.

The fire early Wednesday morning caused heavy fire damage to the west end of the state office, and heat and smoke damage throughout the building. Nevada fire Chief Bill Thornton said the investigation by a state fire marshal and an investigator with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined the fire was a case of arson.

Authorities are asking that anyone with information about the crime call the state’s arson hot line at 1-800-39-ARSON. Callers are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the case.
