Pittsburg man hurt in accident on Highway 69

A Pittsburg, Kan., man was injured in a one-car accident at 12:21 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 69, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, Alejandro Vasquez, 40, was taken by ambulance to Via Christi Medical Center, Pittsburg, with a serious head injury.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the Vasquez car overturned on a curve. Witnesses told deputies that an unidentified male passenger ran away from the accident scene.

• Three people were injured in a two-car accident at 10:45 p.m. Thursday on Southwest First Lane in Lamar, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Melinda Ringstrom, 28, of Lamar, a passenger in one of the cars, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, with serious injuries. The driver of the car, Joshua Saunders, 28, of Lamar, was taken by ambulance to Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, with minor injuries.

The other driver, Terry Long, 28, of Lamar, was taken by ambulance to Barton County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

According to the patrol, the Saunders car turned into the path of the Long car, and was struck broadside.

• A Belton woman was injured in a one-car accident at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on James Road, six miles north of Deerfield in Vernon County.

Hannah Ward, 25, was taken by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The patrol reported Ward’s car ran off the road and overturned onto a fence.

• Two people from Cassville were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 6:15 p.m. Thursday on Route W, four miles west of Butterfield in Barry County.

The driver, Tabitha Mortell, 31, and passenger Lendsey Mortell, 16, were taken to Mercy Hospital Springfield.

The patrol reported the vehicle ran off the road and overturned.
