Separate motorcycle accidents injure two in Barry, McDonald counties

A resident of Eagle Rock was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday on Route F, four miles west of Eagle Rock in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Robert B. VanWye, 63, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Cassville, the patrol said.

VanWye was riding a westbound motorcycle that ran into the rear of a westbound car driven by William C. Wallace, 40, of Holiday Island, Ark., when Wallace stopped in traffic to make a left turn, the patrol said.

• An Aurora resident was injured in a motorcycle accident at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday on Missouri Highway 39, four miles south of Madry in Barry County, the state patrol said.

William G. Hembree, 59, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora, the patrol said.

Hembree was riding a southbound motorcycle that slid into a dog and off the roadway, and overturned, the patrol said.

• A Goodman man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:33 a.m. Wednesday on Mud Springs Road, five miles east of Anderson in McDonald County, the state patrol said.

John A. Benningfield, 21, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Benningfield was a passenger in an eastbound vehicle driven by Ashley N. Benningfield, 20, of Goodman, that ran off the road and struck a tree, the patrol said.
