Retired area judge killed in car crash

A former Barry County judge has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday night in Monett.

W. Dale Burke, 75, was taken to Cox Monett Hospital where he was pronounced dead following the 6:24 p.m. accident at the intersection of state highways 37 and 60.

According to the Monett Police Department, Burke was driving a westbound car that struck the rear of a southbound semi-truck that had stopped in a turning lane. The truck driver escaped injury.

Burke a former associate circuit court judge in Barry County and former municipal judge and city attorney in Monett.
