Joplin man tells police of being robbed of wallet

A 22-year-old Joplin man reported being mugged by a gunman Monday night outside his home in the Park Apartments complex at 1707 E. Campbell Parkway.

Jakob M. Harper told police that he was at the foot of some stairs outside his apartment building when he was grabbed from behind and something metal was put to the back of his neck.

Police Lt. Matt Stewart said Harper believed he saw a gun in his mugger’s hand as he demanded that he give him his wallet. He complied, and the man asked for a cigarette, Stewart said. Harper told him that he did not smoke, and the gunman ran off with his wallet.

The robbery remained under investigation Tuesday without an arrest having been made.
