Webb City man accused of sexually abusing young boy

WEBB CITY, Mo. — The Jasper County prosecutor has charged a 37-year-old Webb City man with the sexual abuse of a boy under the age of 12.

A charge of first-degree statutory sodomy was filed against Norman C. West on Tuesday in Jasper County Circuit Court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Webb City police Chief Carl Francis said the arrest of West was still pending Wednesday, although his whereabouts are known. Francis said the investigation that led to the charge being filed Tuesday remains in progress with additional charges possible.

A probable-cause affidavit alleges that West sexually abused a boy Aug. 17 in Webb City.
