Joplin man faces charge of assault on girlfriend

Joplin police arrested a 22-year-old man Tuesday on a charge of second-degree domestic assault.

Officer Michael Gayman said police were called to 1704 E. Fifth St. shortly before 5:30 p.m. regarding a domestic disturbance.

Demond Horsley was located in a vehicle in the driveway of the residence and questioned before being accused of choking his girlfriend, Kirsten L. Maxie, 22, during an argument, and arrested. Maxie did not require medical attention as a consequence of the alleged assault, Gayman said.
