Joplin man tells police of being punched, robbed

A Joplin man reported that he was attacked and robbed by another man Sunday night while he was sitting on the porch of his home on East 10th Street.

Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said Russ Morrow, 42, told officers that a man came up to him on his porch and punched him three times before taking his wallet, cellphone and a prepaid credit card. Morrow declined medical treatment after the attack, Niess said.

In a separate disturbance, Rikki R. Tuggle, 33, told officers that a man hit her and tried to push her down and take her money Friday night near 10th and Main streets. But she fought him off and he fled the scene before officers arrived, Niess said.

Both reports remained under investigation Tuesday without any arrests having been made.
