Fire damages Joplin home

The Joplin Fire Department responded Tuesday morning to a house fire at 436 North Pearl Avenue. Battalion Chief Al Resendes said the woman and three children who live there were not home at the time and the fire department had to “force entry” when they arrived and there was smoke pouring from the eaves of the house.

Resendes said the home sustained significant water damage and that fire fighters had to pull down the ceiling in one of the bedrooms to ensure the fire had not reached the attic.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.
