Cause of Wheaton fire ruled undetermined

WHEATON, Mo. — A fire on Thanksgiving Day that killed five people at a Wheaton apartment building was ruled to be of “undetermined” origin, but was not intentionally set.

That’s according to an investigation by the Barry County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Division of Fire/Office of the State Fire Marshal, the results of which were released this afternoon.

Officials said the finding is subject to change if new information comes to light.
