A man whose body was discovered Sunday near some railroad tracks in Joplin is believed to have died of natural causes.

An engineer with the Missouri and Northern Arkansas Railroad reported seeing a body Sunday morning in some weeds along the railroad tracks near 17th Street and Maiden Lane. Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said the deceased was identified as Andrew J. Konwinski, 51, a Joplin homeless man.

Jasper County Coroner Rob Chappel said Monday that he intends to rule the cause of death as health issues and exposure.
