JPD continues to investigate incident at Royal Heights, no arrests made

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Police Department said this afternoon that it has located an orange pickup truck allegedly involved in an incident at Royal Heights Elementary School on Monday.

Earlier today, the JPD received a report via Facebook of a suspicious vehicle around Royal Heights Elementary School. The report indicated that a male had driven up to the fence outside the school and tried to coax a 9-year-old girl into the truck.

Detectives contacted the family of the girl and school officials in order to try to piece together the events.

According to JPD, the driver has been interviewed along with several other witnesses. No arrests have been made.

Detectives are continuing to investigate to determine exactly what occurred outside the school the day of the incident.
