A Kansas City man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:55 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 71 in Nevada in Vernon County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Mohammed A. Hersi, 36, was taken by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center, the state patrol said.

Hersi was driving a southbound truck that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.

• Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8:35 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 59, less than two miles north of Jay, Okla., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The driver, Wylie Sparks, 79, and his passenger, Wanda Sparks, 82, both of Grove, Okla., were taken to Integris Grove Hospital. She was treated and released, and he was admitted to the hospital, the state patrol said.

The southbound car slid off the snow- and ice-covered road, struck an embankment and went through a fence, the patrol said.
