A fire Sunday that damaged the outside of a building housing an insurance agency on East Seventh Street is being investigated.

The Joplin Fire Department responded at 4:50 p.m. to a report of a fire at 2020 E. Seventh St. Heavy smoke and fire were noted on the west side of the building as firefighters arrived.

Keith Stammer, public information officer for the Joplin Fire Department, said firefighters confined most of the damage to the outside of the building owned by Pam Greninger and her husband. They operate an American Family Insurance agency there. Stammer said no injuries were reported.
