Joplin police during a sting operation in connection with Internet advertisements arrested two women and issued citations to four others Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of prostitution.
Cpl. Chuck Niess said the operation was conducted at a local motel and targeted ads placed on the Internet. Two of the women are from Joplin, two are from Springfield, and the other two are from Springdale, Ark., and Miami, Okla., he said.
Niess said the continuing sting operations represent an effort to address a misdemeanor offense that has been contributing to other types of crime in Joplin.
