Oklahoma woman sought in burglary at Oronogo home

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is seeking a Miami, Okla., woman on a burglary charge.

Deputies were dispatched on Feb. 5 to a reported burglary in progress in Oronogo. Deputies were told that a resident interrupted some thieves who were burglarizing the home.

A deputy did a composite sketch of a woman who was confronted at the scene, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

On Tuesday, investigators received information on the identity of the woman at the burglary scene. Penny Snyder, 44, of Miami, has been charged with first-degree burglary in connection with the break-in.

Sheriff’s Capt. Derek Walrod said the identity of the resident who discovered the burglary is being withheld because the investigation is continuing and other suspects are being sought.

Investigators are seeking information on the whereabouts of Snyder.

Joplin police arrested Snyder on Monday on a city charge of tampering with a vehicle, but she has been released from custody and there is no report available giving any details of that incident, according to police Cpl. Chuck Niess.
