Jasper County officials investigating jail death

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said today that it is investigating the death of an inmate in the Jasper County Detention Center.  

On 5:07 a.m. today, Richard H. Watson, 43, of Joplin, was found unresponsive.

Emergency medicial responders were contacted and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.  

“At this time there is no foul play suspected and an autopsy is scheduled,” according to a statement sent out by Archie Dunn, Jasper County Sheriff.
